Small groups are an important part of First Pres. These unique gatherings are geared to help people connect with others over a shared experience or interest and every group is geared towards growing in our love and faith in Christ. Small groups are always fluid and changing and more are being started. If you want more information, would like to join a small group or have other questions please email Pastor Matt.
Alpha Small Group
ALPHA is an acronym describing our small group: accountability, learning/laughter, prayer/participation, honesty/humor, action in community. We have individuals and couples who come together to study and share our lives, including joys and concerns. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays during the program year 5:30-7pm. We have done service projects, Bible studies, book discussions, and video-led series; we take turns sharing leadership and bringing dessert.
Blessings Women's Ministry
We chose a study a few times a year that often lasts 3-5 weeks. This is a time for spiritual development and fellowship.

Knit Crochet Ministry
This group of women come together to knit, crochet and to fellowship with one another, meeting every third Sunday of the month, 9:45-10:45am in the Chapel downstairs during the program year. These ladies also come together to create items of love and comfort, such as prayer shawls, afghans, prayer squares, baby blankets, and winter items. Once a year they sponsor an Artisan Sale where handmade items are sold and proceeds go to a fundraiser of their choice.
This group meets the second Tuesday of the month, January through May, 1-3pm, in the church library. We enjoy fellowship with one another while discussing books and sharing creative writing.

Men’s Breakfast Group
This group of men gathers weekly throughout the year to enjoy breakfast (optional), Bible study, prayer, fellowship, a sharing of joys and concerns, and to support each other. All men are invited to join on a drop-in or regular basis. We meet every Monday morning at 8 a.m. at Bob Evans (1412 E. Empire, Bloomington).
We are a group of Mom’s that meet Sunday nights from 5:30pm to 7pm for bible study and fellowship. Our recent studies have centered on books by female Christian authors. We are a very casual group and rotate leadership, although expectations are not very high as we are all busy moms! We also try to be sure to schedule a dinner out periodically. Generally, we meet to share the joys and challenges of being busy moms.
Next Chapter is a women’s small group. We meet the first and third Wednesday of the month at 7pm in member’s homes. This group of women, most of which are recent empty nesters, seek to study the Word, pray for each other’s joys and concerns, and enjoy fellowship with each other. At least twice a year, the group participates in mission outreach opportunities as a way to serve others.
Thursday Morning Book Group
We have a progressive Christian outlook. We read books and articles and watch DVDs selected by the group, discussing the materials with leadership rotating among members. We meet in the library every Thursday.
This group is for women and they meet on the first Friday of the month for fellowship and various outreach activities. We often go out to lunch around noon on Fridays.
Young Marrieds Group
Marriage is perhaps the most sacred ministry many of us are called to and one thing is certain, it's not easy! Marriage is filled with up's and down's and all the in-betweens. But what if God designed marriage to be about more than simply two people sharing life together?
This small group is for couples in their 20's or 30's who want to explore together what God's design for marriage is with other couples seeking the same thing. The group is led by Pastor Matt Wilcox.
We meet every other Monday, from 6:30-8pm in the Senior High Room.
