Call to order: Rev. Jim Bell opened the meeting with prayer. Jim Bouas was ill so there were no devotions. He was excused.

Rev. Bell requested a motion to seat Treasurer Lynn Litwiller, and later at 8:00, Rev. Mark Hamner.

Rev. Bell presented three people for membership. After the stated questions, a motion was made and seconded to receive Mark and Jessica Briggs with a Letter of Transfer from St. Luke's Union Church, Bloomington, and Michael Jon Breitner from Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Motion carried. Abby Briggs was also present. All Session members welcomed these new members.

Treasurer's Report: Net Operating Total YTD through October 2005: ($3,588.29). The deficit, due to an interest expense, was explained and will soon be adjusted! Motion was made and seconded to accept the report. Motion carried. Committee chairs were asked to check on their budgets and to be aware of needs and expenses.

Pastor's Report: Elders Bob Hunt, Margaret Wolf and Pastor Jim Bell attended presbytery at Illinois College, Jacksonville on November 15. A grant for Rev. David Santana's Restoration Christian Church in Bloomington/Normal was approved by the presbytery. Rev. Santana was at the meeting to thank both presbytery and the Presbyterian churches of B/N for their proposal and sponsorship.

  • Nov. 8; Health Ministries, Nov. 15; Stewardship, Nov. 16. Motions were made and seconded to approved all the above minutes. Motions carried.
  • Communion Served: November 27, 2005. Home Communion was served for the following nine people by the listed elders:

A motion was made and passed to accept the Clerk's Report. Motion carried.

Old Business:

  • Stewardship Judy Lindsay reported that $723,196 has been pledged by 215 members. This includes 25 new pledges. Adding in approximately $14,000 that usually comes in by 45 or so members who do not pledge, $36,000 by 22 other members and loose offering and $17,000 in special offerings, we are still about $50,000 short of budget. The Stewardship Committee still has about 20 who still need to be contacted personally. A final report will be given in December.
  • Jon Thetard gave out a schedule for the special December dates and times.

New Business:

Membership/Outreach:

    • Terry Tosh presented the "Membership Inactives List." At the Dec.14 meeting these names will be voted on to be DROPPED from the rolls. They are currently not in the roll total as they were moved to inactive last year or before.     • Also presented for approval at the December 14 meeting are the following to be placed on the INACTIVE list: Bryan Sheppard, Nancy Zeigler, Rockie Zeigler, Larry Mulholland, Teal Mulholland. Faith will follow-up on the Mulhollands before the December vote.
    • Terry also encouraged us to check out the Web site about church membership: ccnonline.com (Church Connection Network). We are having many new visitors. He asked all session members to keep an eye out and try extra hard to great and welcome them.

    Rob Kelley asked for suggestions for performers for special "Community Concert/Galas" being planned by the church.

    Painters are needed for the Habitat House on Sat., Dec. 3.

    There will be 7 baptisms on Dec. 4.

    Rev. Bell will be on vacation to meet his new grandchild, Dec. 6-13.

    Joys and Concerns were expressed.

    Kathy Tosh reported that the PNC (Pastor Nominating Committee) is working on "welcoming activities" for Rev. Larry Gaylord and his family. Feb. 12 is the tentative date for his installation. They will be moving here on Dec. 29. He begins work here January 1, 2006.

    Rev.Bell adjourned the business meeting with prayer at 8:00 p.m.

    Rev. Hamner of St. Luke's Union Church arrived and spoke to session about the presbytery project, "Rivers of New Life." This comes from the the Chicago-based Center for Parish Development, a research foundation for membership and curriculum.

    Meeting ended at 8:35 p.m.
