Roll Call:

  • Class of 2004: Barb Lemmon, Becky Mentzer (excused), Steve Miller, Jay Reece, Cathy Rinehart
  • Youth Elder: Jeremy Brewer (excused)
  • Class of 2005: Steve Barwick, John Crew, Ginny Nappi, Jerry Parsons (excused), Mons Schrantz
  • Class of 2006: Bob Hunt, Dave Seyller, Faith TenHaken (excused), Terry Tosh, E'Lane Tufts
  • Clerk Margaret Wolf (excused)

The Mission Committee requested the following three items:

  1. Session approval for First Presbyterian Church to be a co-sponsor of the Presbyterian Listening Team, promoting Christian-Muslim dialogue, which will visit our area September 23-28, and that First Peacemakers be allowed to contribute up to $600;
  2. Session approval to allow a collection between services for Blanket Sunday/Tools of Hope on Sunday, June 27;
  3. Session approval to allow collection for the school supplies project for Sheridan School during July

Following discussion, motion and seconds for approval were made. All were approved unanimously.

Pastor Bell announced the June 27 congregational meeting for the purpose of electing Class of 2006 ruling elders and members of net year's Nominating Committee. Ginny Nappi stated that this year's Nominating Committee has selected the five individuals to serve as the Class of 2006 ruling elders.

Ginny also reported, with regret, that she will not be able to complete her three-year term as elder and will be leaving the session at the end of this year.

Pastor Bell stated that he would like to see the session increased from its current number of fifteen to eighteen. Follow hearty discussion, the subject was tabled to the July meeting.

At this point, Pastor Bell introduced representatives from the presbytery, Ron Hill and Evelyn Thomas, who were present to lead the triennium discussion regarding the health of our church. Pastors Bell and Kintzel left the meeting during this lengthy discussion.

Following the triennium discussion, Pastor Bell return to lead session in their personal discussions of their statements of faith.

Motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. Rev. Bell closed the meeting with prayer.

The next regular session meeting will be Wednesday, June 23 at 7:00 p.m.
