Jim Bell called the meeting to order. He gave the opening prayer.
The main purpose of the meeting was to examine and accept new
members from the confirmation class and approve a loan for the
building addition.

Roll call was approved. Motion by Jerry; seconded by Cathy.
Confirmation Class members, elders, covenant partners and parents
met with the
students in small groups for examination and review of their
faith statements. The students then introduced themselves and
spoke of their Timothy Tasks. Rev. Jim Bell (and Elder Barb Lemmon,
confirmation class chair) presented the class. After the constitutional
questions were read and affirmatively answered by all, David
Seyller,seconded by Barb Lemmon, made a motion to accept the
eleven students. Motion carried. The new members were all accepted
by Affirmation of Faith.

Note: Peter Garrett and Rob Melchiorre were actually received
an hour later
with a motion by Cathy Rinehart, seconded by Steve Miller. Motion
carried.
Second item of business: Jon Thetard, church treasurer, with
input from Steve Miller, reviewed the options for a church loan
for the new building addition. Bob Hunt made the following motion
(as prepared by Jon Thetard): "The session authorizes the
appropriate officers to execute all necessary documentation for
a mortgage loan with Union Planters Bank. Said loan shall not
exceed $1,200,000 with a rate of 2 percent over the one month
LIBOR index.
The session appoints a committee to study alternative financing
possibilities including internal bond sales. Suggested committee
members: Pastor Jim Bell, Jon Thetard, Steve Miller and Jay Reece.
The committee is charged with bringing a report to the session
at the August meeting."
Faith TenHaken seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
Pastor's Report:
- Several elders will be attending the May Willowcreek Workshop:
Elaine, Jerry, Bob, Faith and Rev. Jim Bell.
- Rev. Vickie is
progressing with her recent eye set-back and surgery.
- Reminder to elders to bring their own faith statements
to the May 26 meeting. It will be a study meeting following
the review of Pastor Jim Bell by presbytery.
- Rev. Bell asked that we use and promote the new church Web
site.
Margaret Wolf and Becky Mentzer requested to be excused from
the May 26 meeting. Mons Schrantz will be the acting clerk.
Motion was made by John Crew and seconded by Barb Lemmon that
the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at
8:00 p.m. Rev. Bell closed the meeting with prayer.
The next regular session meeting will be Wednesday, May 26,
which will be a presbytery review. Jim Bell will be taken out
to eat. The session will then meet with the "Review Triune." Devotions
will be led by Barb Lemmon.
