  Congregational Meeting: Minutes
First Presbyterian Church of Normal, Illinois
Sunday, April 3, 2005, 12:15 p.m.

Rev. Jim Bell opened the meeting with prayer. 120 members were present.

Kathy Tosh, Pulpit Nominating Committee chair, stated the purpose of the meeting: to increase the budget $18,000 for a sufficient salary for the search of a designated co-pastor. She gave an overview of the work of her committee to date and explained the definition of the pastor position that they are seeking. Co-pastors share all responsibilities. Only the congregation can decide on raising the budget. A theme of "Building a Church; Building a Family" was used.

Guest at the meeting was Rev. David Hunte of Clinton, representing the presbytery search committee. He has been meeting regularly with the First Presbyterian of Normal committee.

Kathy introduced her committee which was selected by vote of the congregation in 2004. They are Kathy, Ann Beck, Ginny Clarahan, Joan Edgren, Paul Harmon, Joni Painter, Don Rutledge (Secy), Jeff Stout, John Tuttle and Lloyd Wiesemann.

John Tuttle made a motion the budget be increased $18,000 to provide a sufficient salary base for the ordained designated co-pastor position. Dave Seyller seconded the motion. Discussion followed with representation from various views.

Paul Maier called for the question. The congregation favored it was time to end the debate and vote.

By a show of hands the motion carried by approximately 90 percent pro, 10 percent con.

Rev. Bell encouraged all to listen to God through each other. As we have in the past, he has faith we will move forward and remain a loving caring family.

Joan Edgren made a motion the meeting be adjourned. John Ten Haken seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Rev. Bell closed the meeting with prayer. Meeting adjourned at 1:15 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
