Adult Education Committee

This committee coordinates classes for adults that provide educational and fellowship opportunities.
When developing a schedule, the committee considers participants’ interests and tries to find new ways
to enhance their spiritual growth and Biblical knowledge. |

Youth Ministry Committee
Members: John Anderson, Kelley Becker (Director of Christian Education), Mary Evenson,
Cara McMorris (chair) and Rob Melchiorre (Youth Elder)
This committee is dedicated to all things fun for youth
in 6th-12th grade. Weekly Youth Fellowship begins with a shared dinner and is full of time
to connect with friends and play games. Throughout the year the youth are involved in mission
work in our community and beyond. A summer mission trip is available for 9th-12th grade students.
Lock-Ins, Movie Nights, Paintball, and a variety of other excursions are also in store each year!

Children's Ministries Committee

From Sunday school to Vacation Bible School to nursery child care, this committee coordinates all that
the children of our church do from birth-5th grade. The committee secures paid and volunteer staff for our nursery during worship and throughout the week as
requested. Recruiting volunteers for the many programs offered is a year long task. We are always looking for those who would like to help in Sunday school,
Christian Kidz, the nursery, or
with our annual VBS program.

Congregational Life Committee is a committee that exists to tend
to the needs of the congregation. Whether it be social get togethers or preparing and serving
meals for funerals held at the church, CLC is the committee that takes care of all people at First
Presbyterian Church. |

The Gifts and Memorials Committee
is responsible for maintaining the memorial fund and directing
the use of the memorial monies as guided by the wishes of families
and donors. Not only accepting memorial donations, the committee
encourages First Presbyterian Church members and friends to consider lifetime charitable
gifts for future ministries of the church.

The Mission Committee allocates
funds to local agencies, engages in fund raising, seeks outside
financial support, fosters
an educational mission study, supports mission work projects
and other service projects originated by members of the congregation.
Each member is a liaison to an agency to keep the committee abreast
of needs.
The Mission Committee is also in charge of the four traditional churchwide special offerings,
One Great Hour of Sharing,
Pentecost Offering,
Peacemaking Offering
and Joy
Offering
In 2007, over $20,000 was distributed to various agencies and projects.

First Peacemakers strives to provide an opportunity
for members of the congregation to work toward the peace that God
desires for us. Through the study of Scripture and study of problems
of racism, injustice and other cases of brokenness in the community
and the world, we seek to grow in wholeness and to make what contribution
we can.
Activities have included work with programs of the Central
Illinois Organizing Project, the Interfaith
Committee to Abolish the Death Penalty, attending the annual Presbyterian
Peacemaking Conference and weeding the First Presbyterian Church Peace
Garden. |

lay leaders, arrange for the preparation and serving of communion,
recruit and schedule ushers, help
develop and arrange special services including Advent, Christmas
Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday,
Good Friday, Easter, Pentecost and Funk's Grove services, obtain
worship supplies and
special
decorations
and arrange for media enhancements to the worship services. |
